BIOSKETCH
Dr William Serumula is a PhD holder in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and a trained Medical Scientist in a Virology discipline with more than five years’ experience. He served as Data Manager at Adrenergy from 2020 to 2021 for the HIV Revamp study and was a lecturer in the Department of Virology from 2018 to 2019. He is currently a Radiopharmacy Fellow in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at UKZN, based at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital. He has been a member of the African Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS) Health Research Ethics Committee (HREC) from since 2025, and he has also served as manuscript reviewer in the current HIV Research Journal from 2024. His research interests are in HIV latency studies using novel DNA aptamers, molecular methods on HPV malignancy types and toxicology studies using medicinal plants and cell-based methods. He is currently doing research on radiopharmacy labelling on actinium, technetium, and Gallium 68 for diagnosis and treatment on different cancers. He is also currently registered as a Biological Scientist with the Health Profession Council of South Africa and as a Medical Biological Scientist with registration number: MS 0005363.
